Mr. Sowmyan Ramakrishnan is the Chairman of Tata Projects Limited, Tata Power Trading Co Ltd and also a Director on the Board of Nelco, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited, Tata Power Solar Systems and Director on foreign companies viz. PT Arutmin Indonesia, IndoCoal Resources (Cayman) Ltd, Adjaristsqali Netherlands, BV and OTP Geothermal Services, Indonesia, etc.
Mr. Ramakrishnan possesses over 32 years of professional experience and expertise in Operations and Project Management and has been associated with the Tata Group for more than 30 years. In the past too, Mr. Ramakrishnan has held many senior positions within the Tata Group. He was the Deputy Managing Director of Indian Hotels Company Limited, the Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited, the Managing and Executive Director of TATA Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited, the Chairman and Director of AGC Networks Limited, a Director at Tata Housing Development Company Limited, a Director and later Additional Director of Automotive Stampings & Assemblies Limited.
He also held Director positions at The Tata Power, Af-Taab Investments, Powerlinks Transmission Limited and Maithon Power Limited.
Mr. Sowmyan Ramakrishnan holds a B Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Indian Institute of Management.
Prof. Samir Kumar Barua has a Master's degree in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Doctorate in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has been a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), where he also served as a Director on the Board.
Samir Kumar Barua has considerable expertise in Financial markets and Risk management. Prof. Barua is also the Chairman, Audit Committee, Tata Projects Limited.
Ms. Neera Saggi holds a MBA degree from International Centre of Public Enterprise, Ljubljana in Slovenia and a Masters Degree in English Literature from Delhi University.
She joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1980. For 34 years she worked with multiple sectors and with different stakeholders including Government, Private, NGO, Multilateral Agencies, Chamber of Business and Commerce. She was the First Women President elected for the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Ms. Neera Saggi was also the Chief Executive Officer for Larsen & Toubro, Seawoods Pvt Ltd.
Besides other assignments undertaken, Ms. Saggi was the Secretary to Governor of West Bengal, District Magistrate, Hooghly in West Bengal, Dy. Chairperson of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), CMD of Hindustan Diamond Corporation and Development Commissioner of Special Economic Zones.
Mr. P N Dhume is the Chairman of Rohini Industrial Electrical Limited. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for International Operations Business Division of Voltas Limited. He is also Director of Lalbuksh Voltas Engineering Services & Trading LLC, Oman, Weathermaker Limited, UAE and Voltas Netherlands B.V. He has over 30 years experience in execution of Projects in India and abroad.
Mr. Dhume holds B. E. (Electrical), DBM, PGDIM and MFM Degrees.
Mr. Padmanabh (Paddy) Sinha is the Managing Partner for the flagship private equity fund of the Tata group - Tata Opportunities Fund. Prior to joining Tata Capital as a founding partner of the Tata Opportunities Fund, Mr. Sinha was the Managing Director for India at Temasek Holdings. Mr. Sinha was part of Temasek's founding India team in 2004 and during his tenure at Temasek also led global special projects for Temasek.
He has worked with ICICI Venture previously as well as an entrepreneur where he was the President of an e-learning company funded by ChrysCapital, Star TV and International Finance Corporation, which he eventually sold to a listed Indian corporation. Mr. Sinha has served on several corporate boards, including select Tata companies.
The Tata Opportunities Fund is a USD 600 million third party private equity fund which invests in select Tata group entities as well as other independent Indian businesses. The Fund's investees benefit both from its capital as well as from access to the Tata group's global reach and wide ranging long established industry presence. The fund is sector and stage agnostic and invests in both minority and control deals.
Mr. Vinayak K Deshpande is the Managing Director of Tata Projects since July, 2011. A graduate in Chemical Engineering (1980) from IIT, Kharagpur, he has over 30 years of work experience in different roles, in diverse industries; starting with the design and sales of boilers and captive power plants at Thermax, to industrial automation and process controls.
At Tata Honeywell, of which he was the Managing Director of its India business for five years till 2004-05, he grew the company's operations pan India, to achieve about 300% growth. Thereafter he had a successful stint as the Executive President (Operations) of Tata Teleservices.
Since Mr. Deshpande took charge as Managing Director, the company has achieved all-round excellence in its business of Industrial Infrastructure. In 2014-15, he has been instrumental in diversifying the company's business in 'Urban Infrastructure' and 'Civil Construction', wherein the company has won projects to build Urban Metro systems.
Under his mentorship, in 2014-15, Tata Projects has been voted as the `Most Admired Construction Company' by `Construction World'. The company was also awarded by Dun & Bradstreet (in association with E & Y)-'Exemplary Project' of the year award for building Krishnapatnam (2x800 MW) Supercritical thermal power plant; and EPC World 'Outstanding Contribution in Power T&D award' - for building Nellore Kurnool transmission line.
OBSERVER TO THE BOARD
Bobby is a founding member of the Tata Opportunities Fund, a USD 600 million third-party private equity fund that invests in attractive off-market transactions leveraging the network and relationships of the Tata group. Based in Mumbai, Bobby champions new investment opportunities and drives value creation as the fund's nominee on the Board of select portfolio companies. Bobby joined Tata Capital in 2007 and has helped conceptualize, nurture and build the firm's private equity franchise, which today manages about USD 1 billion in AUM.
Prior to this, for 7 years, Bobby served at a strategy consultant at Tata Strategic Management Group, where he helped establish his firm's private equity practice. Bobby started his career with the TVS Group.
Bobby secured his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program of College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University. In the year 2000, the Confederation of Indian Industry honoured Bobby as a Young Business Leader of Tomorrow.
A `Mechanical Engineer’ from Jadavpur University, with a Masters in `Project Engineering’ from BITS Pilani, and a Diploma in Business Management from IIM Kolkata has been Arabinda’s educational profile. At present Arabinda is the Executive Director, with a seat on the Board of Tata Projects and overseas its Industrial Infrastructure business. At Tata Projects, he has been instrumental in scaling up the company’s project execution. Building India’s Largest Blast furnace, executing one of its kind `Dravyavati River Rejuvenation’ project, building India’s Eastern & Western Dedicated Freight corridors, building the largest public sector `Supercritical Thermal power plant at Krishnapatnam’ and execution of Oil & Gas storage facilities in Middle East, are some of the projects which he has guided and spearheaded at Tata Projects. Prior to his role at Tata Projects, he was the CEO of an international subsidiary of a leading Indian infrastructure company and had worked for other corporates in various leadership positions.He is a passionate about Indian `Classical Music’ and is an active member of `Lions Club’.
Banmali Agrawala is the President, Infrastructure and Defence & Aerospace, Tata Sons Limited. In his earlier role, he was President and CEO of GE, South Asia, where he was responsible for all of GE’s operations in the South Asia region. Prior to GE, he was Executive Director (BD & Strategy) and a Member of the Board of Tata Power. A veteran in the Energy domain, Banmali has over 30 years of global experience. He started his career with the Wartsila Group where he spent over 20 years, both in India and in Finland. At the time of leaving the Wartsila Group, he was the Managing Director of Wartsila India Ltd, the Global Head of the Bio Power Industries and a Member of the Global Power Plant Management Board. An active Member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Banmali has held several official positions within CII such as Chairman of the Western Regional Council, and currently is also a Member of CII’s National Council. Banmali is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Mangalore University and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme of Harvard Business School.
Rahul Shah, 50, joined TATAs through the Tata Administrative Service in 1990 after completing his MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. He has held several challenging assignments in different Tata companies spanning the media, telecommunications and power sectors, during his 28 years with TATAs.
Rahul joined Tata Power in 2007 and was responsible for evaluating and developing new business opportunities in generation, transmission and distribution in India. From 2011 to early 2018, as CEO and ED of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd., the vehicle housing Tata Power’s renewable energy generation capacity, he led the growth of the portfolio to 2.3 GW, making it one of the largest and most profitable renewable energy companies in India.
In his present role, Rahul leads development of Corporate Strategy, New Business Services, Business Collaborations and Business Excellence. He also represents Tata Power’s interests as nominee Director on Boards of subsidiary and JV companies.
Mr. Dave at present heads the Transmission and Distribution Vertical at Tata Power which includes Mumbai, Delhi, Ajmer Distribution and Powerlinks Transmission. Prior to this he was Chief Business Development Officer responsible for activities in India and overseas (includes M&A and divestment) in the areas of power generation, transmission, distribution, resources and services business. In the past, he has headed the business development in the ASEAN region and has also been the Chief Representative Officer of Tata Power in Indonesia where he oversaw Tata Power investments in Coal Sector.
He is a member of Apex Leadership team of Tata Power. He was a nominee Director of several companies in renewable and resources business in India, Singapore, Indonesia and South Africa including two listed company in Indonesia. At present, he is the Director of two coals companies of Indonesia and several Tata Power entities in Transmission and Distribution.
He joined Tata Power in November 1982. With a career spanning over 35 years, he has handled various functions including engineering, planning, fuel procurement, project development & management, regulatory affairs, business development and strategy. He is a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, 1980) and Master in Technology (Heat, Power & Refrigeration, 1982) from IIT Bombay.
Mr. Dave is an avid reader, loves listening to classical Indian music and plays table tennis and enjoys trekking. He is widely travelled and lived in Indonesia for 8 years. He is married and has a daughter. Besides heading several business activities and thought leader in industry associations, he has been a mentor and motivational speaker at several Tata group companies.
