Sukumar Hebbar is the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Tata Projects. A seasoned business leader with over 36 years of experience in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) industry, he brings deep expertise in business transformation, operational excellence, innovation, and people leadership.
Prior to joining Tata Projects, Mr. Hebbar served as Head of Transportation Infrastructure at Larsen & Toubro (L&T). During his distinguished career with L&T, he held leadership positions across Transportation Infrastructure, Healthcare, Public Spaces, Airports, Data Centers, and Buildings-International. He played a pivotal role in establishing and scaling high-growth business verticals, creating strong platforms for sustainable growth and market leadership.
Mr. Hebbar has led the successful delivery of several landmark infrastructure projects and managed large, complex portfolios of national and international significance. His experience spans transportation, healthcare, aviation, commercial infrastructure, and digital infrastructure, including the execution of premier healthcare institutions such as AIIMS projects, leading medical colleges, and advanced cancer care facilities.
An advocate of technology-led project delivery, he has championed modern construction methodologies, including 3D Concrete Printing, Modular Construction, and Composite Structures, while driving digital transformation to enhance project execution and operational excellence. A strong believer in safety as a core organisational value, he has fostered high-performing teams that have earned multiple British Safety Council Sword of Honour recognitions for excellence in health, safety, and environmental performance.
Widely respected for his people-first leadership style, Mr. Hebbar is known for building empowered teams, nurturing a culture of trust, and delivering sustainable business outcomes.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Mysore University and has completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, France.
