Malay Kumar is the Executive Vice President & SBG Head – Advanced Technology Facilities at Tata Projects. He provides end-to-end leadership for the Strategic Business Group, with responsibility for P&L, business strategy, profitable growth, operational excellence, project delivery, and customer engagement. He is responsible for strengthening execution capabilities and delivering complex, high-value projects across the business.
He brings over three decades of experience in project management, strategic planning, operations leadership, and business execution, with deep expertise in executing large EPC projects across refineries, petrochemicals, chemicals, and advanced technology facilities. He has extensive international exposure, having worked in South Africa and Singapore, and has contributed to projects and business engagements across multiple geographies.
Prior to joining Tata Projects, Malay served as President & Group Head – Projects at Deepak Nitrite, where he led complex project portfolios, strengthened delivery processes, built high-performing teams, and drove value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives. He has also held leadership roles at organisations including HPCL, Shell, JSPL, and Larsen & Toubro.
Malay holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Mesra and has completed the Executive General Management Programme (EGMP) from IIM Bangalore.
