Mr. Banmali Agrawala

Chairman

Mr. Banmali Agrawala is the President, Infrastructure and Defence & Aerospace, Tata Sons Limited. In his earlier role, he was President and CEO of GE, South Asia, where he was responsible for all of GE’s operations in the South Asia region. Prior to GE, he was Executive Director (BD & Strategy) and a Member of the Board of Tata Power. A veteran in the Energy domain, Banmali has over 30 years of global experience.

 

He started his career with the Wartsila Group where he spent over 20 years, both in India and in Finland. At the time of leaving the Wartsila Group, he was the Managing Director of Wartsila India Ltd, the Global Head of the Bio Power Industries and a Member of the Global Power Plant Management Board. An active Member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Banmali has held several official positions within CII such as Chairman of the Western Regional Council, and currently is also a Member of CII’s National Council.

 

Banmali is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Mangalore University and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme of Harvard Business School.

Mr. Vinayak Pai

Managing Director

Prior to joining Tata Projects, Mr. Pai was the Group President at Worley, based out of Hague, Netherlands. Mr. Pai was responsible for Worley businesses in the EMEA and APAC regions. He was President of the Energy, Chemicals and Resources business at Jacobs before its acquisition by Worley.

 

He has been part of the Oil and Gas industry for over three decades and has extensive experience in executing upstream and downstream projects and successfully growing the business in a highly competitive environment. He has held key positions in Engineering Design, Technology Licensing, Project Management, Business Development and Operations.

 

Mr. Pai holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Pune and Post-Graduation in Management from Symbiosis, Pune and IIT Mumbai.

Mr. Vinayak Pai

Managing Director

Mr. Sanjay Bhandarkar

Independent Director

Sanjay Bhandarkar has over three decades of corporate finance, advisory and investment banking experience in the country. He is an independent non-executive director on the boards of three listed companies Tata Power Company Limited, S Chand & Company Limited and HDFC Asset Management Company Limited since late 2016 as and on the board of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited as a shareholder nominee.

 

Sanjay is on the Investment Committee of a SEBI registered seed capital fund called Contrarian Vriddhi as an external IC member. The fund has fully invested its corpus. He is also on the Investment Committee of the US$ 170m South Asia Growth Fund II of GEF Capital Partners as an external IC member. He is on the advisory board of 1Crowd, a seed capital stage online investing platform which has also raised a SEBI approved fund for seed stage investing.

 

Sanjay started his career with ICICI in 1990 and ISec, the joint venture between ICICI and JP Morgan, and then spent two years with Peregrine Capital. He was part of the founding team of Rothschild India in 1998 and played a key role in establishing Rothschild as a well-recognised and respected pure play advisory investment banking firm in India. He led the Rothschild India business from December 2005 to June 2016 when he stepped down from his full-time role.

 

Sanjay’s focus at Rothschild was on M&A as well as equity capital market advisory for Indian and international companies. He led the teams that worked closely with the Government of India on the 3G and BWA spectrum auctions, the first e-auctions done in India, and on the restructuring of the Enron and GE owned Dabhol power project, one of the largest and most complex restructurings to date. Sanjay did his MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur in 1990. He lives in Mumbai.

Ms. Nishi Vasudeva

Independent Director

Ms Nishi Vasudeva, an Indian business executive, served as Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, a Fortune 500 company till March 2016.

 

She is the first woman in India to head an organization in the Energy sector and among the very few globally to head an Oil company. As CMD of HPCL, she was responsible for developing the vision and long-term objectives, improving growth and profitability, driving a high-performance culture geared towards operational excellence and consistent value creation for stakeholders.

 

She was Chairman of the Board at several Joint Venture companies of HPCL in partnership with reputed multinationals/ Indian corporates.

 

Prior to assuming charge as CMD, was on HPCL Board as Director-Marketing and was responsible for pan India sales, brand building, efficient supply chain management, infrastructure development and leading the company’s foray into new business lines.

 

Her career at HPCL included leadership positions in Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Planning and Information Systems and has led key business transformation and organizational restructuring projects.

 

She has also been a Member of several Committees for development of policy for the Hydrocarbon sector in India.

Ms Vasudeva is the first Indian to be awarded the Platts “Global CEO of the year” in the Energy sector and has several other awards & recognitions to her credit. She was presented the SCOPE award in the Individual Leadership category by the President of India for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Public Sector Management.

 

Ms. Vasudeva is BA (Economic Honours) from Delhi University and an MBA from IIM Calcutta with over 38 years of experience in the petroleum industry.

Mr. Ritesh Mandot

Nominee Director.

Mr. Ritesh Mandot is the Partner at Tata Opportunities Fund (Tata Capital), a USD 600mn growth stage private equity fund. He has previously worked with the private equity arm of Reliance Industries (GenNext Ventures), Milestone Religare (Healthcare and Education focused fund) and MAPE Advisory (a leading boutique investment bank). He has extensive work experience spanning Private Equity and Investment Banking with a cumulative transaction record of more than US$ 750 million spread over more than a decade. He brings with him wide ranging experience across M&A, Capital raising, Strategy & Investments. He has extensive experience across the lifecycle of alternative investment assets.

 

At Tata Capital, he has been involved in investments across Tata Sky, Shriram Properties, Tata Projects and Uber Technologies and also serves as member / observer on the boards of Tata Sky, Tata Projects and Shriram Properties.

 

Ritesh holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Banga

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Banga is the Chief Executive Officer of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a Public Private Partnership (JV) of TATA Power and Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. The company has a registered consumer base of 1.68 million and reaches out to 7 million consumers in North and North West part of Delhi through its services.

 

A power sector veteran with around three decades of experience in power generation and distribution business, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Banga brings with him an expertise in the power sector, covering areas of Operational Technologies, Project Management, Utility Business process Re-engineering and Regulatory Environment that are essential for strengthening of electrical utilities to meet reliability and AT&C loss reduction targets under regulatory regime. The learning he gathered through associations with leading public and private sector electrical utilities in India equips him very well to tackle the enormous challenges of the electricity distribution business in India and abroad. His deep knowledge of the subject makes him a regular speaker in seminars / workshops / panel discussions in India and abroad.

 

Mr. Banga is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra. He has done his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi. He is a member of the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) LITD10 core committee for defining standards for Power System Control and Communication. He has successfully completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program from the most coveted Harvard Business School.

Mr. Sanjeev Churiwala

Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director

Sanjeev Churiwala is presently the Chief Financial Officer at Tata Power.

 

Till Oct 2021 he was the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Diageo India (United Spirits Ltd), and was a part of its Executive Committee. He has around 23 years of diversified work experience. In the initial 9 years of his career, he has worked in operation roles in business development, projects and commercial functions and the later 14 years in core finance & strategy.

 

Sanjeev was the Chairman of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd (RCSPL) that runs the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL franchise.

 

Prior to joining Diageo India, Sanjeev was with Lafarge Holcim’s Indian subsidiary Ambuja Cements, a leading producer of building material, where he held the position of CFO since early 2011, leading the finance function and also overseeing the secretarial and legal functions.

 

Sanjeev worked with Ambuja Cements and its subsidiaries for about 15 years in various roles that included finance, business development, project management, commercial operations, business and financial integration. Prior to joining Ambuja Cements as its CFO, Sanjeev also served as country CFO for Holcim’s operations in Sri Lanka for about 4 years. Sanjeev had brief stints with Electrosteel Castings Ltd as CFO & Company Secretary and with ICRA Ltd.

 

He is a fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost Accountants of India, besides holding an Executive MBA from the London Business School, UK.

 

Sanjeev has received much external recognition for his work. In 2011, he received Business Today & Yes Bank – Best CFO Award 2011 for Commitment towards Triple Bottom Line-People, Planet & Profit. Earlier this year, he received the prestigious Best CMA CFO-2014 Award among private limited companies in the manufacturing sector, awarded by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

 

Sanjeev is passionate about Cricket & Football and all the life lessons that can be learned through sports. He prefers to spend his leisure time with his family and enjoys doing community service. Sanjeev and his wife Rashmi are blessed with two daughters – Samiksha and Advika, and son Bhavya.
